News - Dunbar Christmas Lights - £2500 donation...
Community Windpower and BeGreen Dunbar are delighted to be supporting the Dunbar Christmas Lights this year, having helped previously in 2015. A fantastic donation of £2500 will be going towards the upgrade of the light infrastructure.
The current infrastructure has been undergoing a major overhaul over the last 4 years, replacing 30 year old equipment. This will not only meet current safety standards but will also greatly increase energy efficiency due to being replaced with LED Lighting.
David Currie, BeGreen Energy Assessor is pleased to be helping, "We have helped with the upgrade of some of the lights in the past but this was a 4 year programme so it's great to be involved again. Changing lighting to LED is of particular interest to myself and a massive way to improve energy efficiency and reduce the impact on the environment. This small group of volunteers do a fantastic job of maintaining the lights, not just around the Christmas period but every week of the year. The committee rely solely on donations and fundraising events so it's very important we get behind them. The lights bring people from far and wide and bring a smile to many faces. Community Windpower even has it's own light now, we are extremely proud to be part of this project. We would like to say a huge thank you and well done to all the dedicated people that make this happen every year!"
