News - Belhaven Surf Centre Grand Opening September 2019...
You may have seen in our previous edition of East Coast Today or on our website that we have been supporting Belhaven Surf Centre from the very beginning. We are now excited to say that the Surf Centre is now open for business!
On Friday 13th September BeGreen and Community Windpower were invited to the official opening of the new Surf Centre down at Belhaven Bay in Dunbar. We are proud to have donated £10,000 to the Centre, the first of it's kind in Scotland!
The centre will be used by Coast to Coast Surf School, Surfers Against Sewage, Dunbar Surf Life Saving Club and a number of other groups, including East Lothian Council’s countryside rangers.
This state of the art facility hosts a cinema/entertainments room, heated changing rooms, hot indoor and outdoor showers and an equipment hire shop.
David Currie, BeGreen Energy Assessor said, “I was really impressed by the setup and size of the new Surf Centre, this is really going to put Dunbar on the map as a top surf destination. I believe that this will encourage kids and families to get out the house and give this great sport a go! But it's not just the surfing, it goes so far beyond that with having other groups using the space too. All of us at Community Windpower and BeGreen are delighted to have been part of the project and would like to congratulate everyone who has been involved and wish the centre and everyone who uses it all the best for the future".
