“5 in 5” - £500 donation!! Community Windpower & BeGreen Dunbar were delighted to attend a fundraising event at Hallhill, Dunbar on Sunday 6th August. The fundraising day was part of number of events that are taking place to raise money for the “5 in 5” challenge. The “5 in 5” was created by the family of a lovely local lady, Elaine Simants, who sadly passed away in September after being diagnosed with a brain tumour. The “5 in 5” will see members of the family take on an epic 1500 miles in the way of doing the John Muir Way. This will see them run a marathon each day for 5 days. All the money raised from the events will be going to the Maggies Centre and Ward 2 at Belhaven Hospital which have been a huge support to the family. Another upcoming challenge sees local man Bobby Peters and 6 others from the Dunbar Rugby Club take on a huge cycle run from Helensburgh to Dunbar on the 19th and 20th of August. Hallhill in Dunbar was host to the family fun day which raised over £1000. It was here that Community Windpower handed over a £500 cheque to Bobby Peters and some of the “5 in 5” team. Mr Peters said, “Thank you so much for this generous donation. When I heard that Community Windpower and BeGreen Dunbar were going to give us £500 I couldn’t stop smiling. It makes the cycling miles in front of us seem that little bit easier when we have so much support.” Everyone at BeGreen Dunbar and Community Windpower would like to wish everyone all the best with all their upcoming challenges. Anouska Woods from BeGreen said, “This is such an amazing thing that everyone is doing. Having lost my mum to cancer and knowing the support that the Maggies Centre provided throughout, this is a charity that is close to my heart too. I would like to wish everyone a massive good luck with everything, you are all an inspiration”.
