Funding to support NHS Scotland

Community Windpower’s joint Covid-19 crisis fund with BeGreen Dunbar is once again helping Blood Bikes Scotland, as the organisation continues to help the NHS in Scotland.

A donation of £2,500, in addition to the £3,500 provided in 2020, has been given to the charity by Community Windpower; helping keep a fleet of 12 bikes and one car on the road, supporting four NHS authorities – Lothians, Borders, Forth Valley and Fife.

John Baxter, chairman of Blood Bikes Scotland, said: “With fundraising activities suspended, we’re reliant on donations such as the very much appreciated £2,500 from Community Windpower and BeGreen.

“They helped us in 2020 and have once again stepped up to the plate to support us, as we support the NHS in Scotland.

“We’re really grateful for the support from Community Windpower and BeGreen Dunbar, to help keep our bikes and car on the road to service the NHS.”

Diane Wood, community benefits director at Community Windpower, which operates the Aikengall Community Wind Farms in East Lothian, said: “When we supported Blood Bikes Scotland in 2020 we were truly amazed by the vital support they provided to the NHS in Scotland.

“Community Windpower’s joint Covid-19 crisis fund with BeGreen Dunbar aims to help people and organisations come together and help each other, so when the charity applied again in 2021, we didn’t hesitate in approving the application.

“We know our funding will continue help make a difference to Blood Bikes Scotland, the NHS authorities it works for and patients cared for by our NHS.”
