Innerwick Primary School has been looking for support to help its pupils safely return to learning during the Covid-19 pandemic. But, as the significant changes to learning provision are not reflected in current school budgets, adhering to government guidelines would be financially very difficult. It meant the school turned Community Windpower and BeGreen Dunbar’s joint Covid-19 crisis fund for help. The school was looking for £2,000 to purchase vital equipment and learning facilities to enable children to go back to school, while adhering to government guidelines. The allocation of funds from the joint Covid-19 crisis fund was quickly agreed and is now being used for the educational, health and wellbeing support of children at Innerwick Primary School. It is prioritising the physical and emotional wellbeing of its young people, while also ensuring a meaningful and stimulating learning experience in a safe environment, with a focus on outdoor learning. The £2,000 from the Community Windpower and BeGreen Dunbar Covid-19 crisis fund will be used to purchase wipe clean cushions, tarpaulin and a cover on a gazebo area, which is already outside one of the classrooms. In addition, each child will be given individual whiteboards as well as their own stationery supplies. The resources required are to ensure physical wellbeing in terms of government guidance around distancing, sharing of space and resources, and access to well-ventilated spaces.
