News - Murdo Watson - £2500 donation...
It's not every day you get to have your photo taken with a Scottish and British Champion in Skiing but that's exactly what happened when David Currie met Murdo Watson! Murdo is a local Dunbar boy who is an aspiring ski racer. He skis on both dry-slope and snow winning various awards, one special award being the Craig Macfie Award. This prestigious award is given to the most promising and hard-working young seeded racer in Scotland. The 2019 season was particularly successful for Murdo after he was selected to join a 2 year development squad, aiming to join the British Alpine team. Not only is this a huge physical commitment it also requires a huge amount of funding. So that's where Community Windpower and BeGreen come in! Anouska Woods, BeGreen Community Co-ordinator knows only too well the financial impact has when you have children in sport. "It's so exciting to be part of Murdo's journey. My 2 children are into football and hockey in a big way and that can be expensive at times but it's a drop in the ocean compared to the investment that goes into skiing! For Murdo the costs run into the thousands so it's really exciting that we are able to help him on his way and fund his ski kit. It's so important for teenagers to follow their dreams and if we can help a little with that it's very rewarding. Murdo is a dedicated, talented young man and it's great to see. We will be following him in his new adventure so watch this space." Everyone at Community Windpower and BeGreen would like to wish Murdo all the best for the new season starting in January. |
