News - Covid-19 fund supports Marie Curie in North Ayrshire...
Our Covid-19 crisis fund, in conjunction with the Dalry Parish Boundary Trust, has supported the charity Marie Curie charity in East Lothian, and now we’re providing £2,500 support to Marie Curie in Ayrshire. During this national emergency, staff from Marie Curie are on the frontline of healthcare with the NHS, working flat out in partnership with the NHS to deliver vital care to patients who are terminally ill and dying. Marie Curie in Ayrshire currently have 11 community specialist nurses and our Covid-19 crisis fund donation will enable the charity to provide critical PPE for these frontline staff to ensure they can continue to give choice in place of death for those patients that it is safe to do so (i.e. do not require ventilation), and help fund 100 hours of local nursing care. The £2,500 will be used by Marie Curie to meet the demand for our services which is increasing at a time when most of our fundraising has ground to a halt. Those who will benefit are terminally ill people throughout Ayrshire. Some of our patients are Covid positive and almost all are in a high-risk category. Diane Wood, community benefits director at Community Windpower, which operates the Millour Hill and Dalry Community Wind Farms in North Ayrshire, said: “We’re living in worrying and unprecedented times for everyone, and now is the time we need to dig deep and help people in communities that are being negatively impacted by this Covid-19 crisis. “Marie Curie does amazing work with people in our local communities and we’re pleased to help the nurse specialists provide their care, safely at this time. “We’ll continue to look at how we can use our Covid-19 crisis fund to help others in need across Ayrshire.” For more information on the North Ayrshire Covid-19 crisis fund, managed by the Dalry Parish Boundary Trust, applications should contact John Smith at the Dalry Parish Boundary Trust on 07768 017 864 or email jsmithbirkentop@btinternet.com. |
