Community Windpower, through BeGreen Dunbar, have contributed £500 to Markle Steading Residents Association’s defibrillator installation project.Markle Steading is a large rural grouping of houses, just over a mile from East Linton, with a wider community of surrounding cottages and the Markle Fisheries, which has provided stillwater fishing for over 20 years. In applying for grant help, the Markle Steading Residents Association (MSRA) hopes to install a defibrillator which would provide a reassuring safety net for residents, locals, dog walkers, and those visiting Markle Fisheries. In recent years, a handful of residents at Markle Steading have made calls to the emergency services for heart-related issues; having a defibrillator within close reach would not just be an assurance, it could very well save a life. With St John’s Ambulance covering the cost of the defibrillator, plus installation and relevant training, Community Windpower (CWL), through BeGreen Dunbar, are delighted to cover the remaining costs with a community benefit grant of £500.
