About Us...

The BeGreen Dunbar Energy Advice Centre was opened by Community Windpower Ltd in November 2008.

The Centre is situated in the centre of Dunbar, located close to local schools, shops, cafés, the library and other community facilities. This enables local residents and visitors to easily access the Centre for advice and information whilst visiting or shopping in Dunbar.

The Energy Advice Centre has advised and assisted numerous local residents from Dunbar and the wider District with a wide range of energy saving technologies, from the installation of loft and cavity wall insulation and draft proofing measures through to the installation of solar thermal and solar PV systems, replacement boilers and air source heat pumps.

Detailed advice on alternative technologies along with help and assistance to apply for grants is provided, along with top-up funding sourced directly from BeGreen Dunbar thanks to the £100,000 fund it receives annually from Aikengall Community Windfarm.

BeGreen Dunbar utilises the services of the Energy Auditors who are employed by Sustaining Dunbar, who operate from the office located above the Centre. This working relationship enables Home Energy Audits to be conducted free of charge to home owners which as a result identifies areas where energy savings can be gained thus reducing fuel bills and cutting carbon dioxide emissions.

BeGreen Dunbar also provides information regarding Community Windpower’s operational Aikengall Community Windfarm and the consented Aikengall II – Wester Dod Community Windfarm which has been approved by Scottish Ministers.

For more information, please pop in to the Centre or telephone Gillian on 01928 734544.
